There’s something powerful about a room full of women coming together to talk openly about their health — and on Saturday 2 May, our community did exactly that.
The sold-out Coastal Goddess Women’s Health Luncheon welcomed 158 guests to voco Gosford for an afternoon of connection, education and honest conversation — and together, we raised a record $30,000 for WomenCan, supporting vital gynaecological cancer research.
It’s our biggest single-event result yet, bringing the total raised across five luncheons to an incredible $115,000.
An afternoon of honest conversation
The day was opened by Dr Gordon Reid, who spoke to the importance of keeping women’s health firmly on the agenda. At the heart of the event was our founder, Dr Kelly Needham, who led the afternoon — with a particular spotlight on perimenopause and menopause, the stage of life she supports women through every day in clinic.
Across two expert-led panel discussions, Dr Kelly Needham was joined by obstetricians and gynaecologists Dr Helen Manning and Dr Peta Skilbeck, alongside GP Dr Shauna Watts. They were joined by a clinical psychologist, a women’s health physiotherapist and a nutritionist, as well as deeply moving lived experience from a local cancer survivor and an oncology nurse working on the frontline of care.
The conversations were open, honest and wonderfully relatable — covering everything from hormonal changes and symptom management to long-term health and wellbeing. Hosting the day was Shelly Horton, who brought warmth, humour and energy that made even the serious topics feel accessible and engaging.
More than a number
For Dr Needham, the impact of the day goes well beyond the total raised.
“This is about creating a space where women feel comfortable to talk, ask questions, and better understand what they’re going through. To raise $30,000 in one afternoon is incredible — but just as important are the conversations happening in the room. Women are learning they’re not alone, and that support is available.”
Every dollar raised goes directly to WomenCan, the fundraising arm of ANZGOG, funding critical research into gynaecological cancers and improving outcomes for women across Australia.
