Our Annual Fundraising Lunch: A Cause Close to My Heart
This year, our event will take place on Saturday, 24 May, at the beautiful Kefi restaurant at Koolewong. We’ve made some exciting changes to the timing—moving to a Saturday lunch so we can all truly relax and enjoy the day without the Monday morning stress!
Why This Event Matters So Much to Me
For those who don’t know my story, I’m not just a doctor supporting this cause—I am also a cervical cancer survivor.
Over a year ago, I received the life-changing diagnosis of cervical cancer. As a doctor, I had spent my career guiding patients through health journeys, but suddenly, I found myself on the other side. No amount of medical knowledge could prepare me for the emotional and physical toll of facing cancer firsthand. It was terrifying, uncertain, and at times overwhelming.

But through it all, I had an incredible support system—family, friends, colleagues, and my medical team—who carried me through some of my hardest days. It is because of research, advancements in treatment, and organisations like WomenCan that I am here today, able to share my story and continue advocating for women’s health.
The funds we raise go directly towards research that saves lives, helping develop better diagnostic tools, treatment options, and ultimately, a future without gynaecological cancers.
